DC Special #9 (On Sale: August 4, 1970) has a Strangest Sports Stories Ever Told cover my Murphy Anderson.
Apparently Julius Schwartz loved this concept of strange sports stories. Not only is he the editor of this book, but he edited each of the books in which these stories were originally printed. Me, I never really got behind this genre.
We begin with "Challenge of the Headless Baseball Team," a 14-page story by Gardner Fox, Carmine Infantino and Joe Giella. This one is reprinted from Brave and the Bold #45.
Next we have "Danger on the Martian Links," an 11-page story by John Broome, Carmine Infantino and Joe Giella. This one is reprinted from Brave and the Bold #46.
That is followed by "The Phantom Prize-Fighter," a 14-page story by Gardner Fox, Carmine Infantino and Joe Giella. This one is reprinted from Brave and the Bold #47.
We end this strange book with "Duel of the Star Champions," a 15-page tale by Gardner Fox, Carmine Infantino and Joe Giella. This one is reprinted from Brave and the Bold #48.
The whole thing is edited by Julie Schwartz.
