Bomba #7 (On Sale: July 16, 1968) has on this, its final issue, another interesting piece by Jack Sparling. One gets the feeling with these last few Bomba covers that Sparling had free-reign to do whatever he wanted and they just squeezed in the logo wherever they could.
"Nightmare" is the name of this story by Denny O'Neil and Jack Sparling. That's about all I know. Unlike Blackhawk, which was also scheduled for cancellation when Giordano was handed the reigns, Dick didn't seem all that interested in spending much time on this book.

This is the first time I've seen this cover! WILD OR WHAT??? I bet it stood out on the racks that week!
Another example of SPARLING showing some effort to emulate N. ADAMS' Inking & Style...
This is the 3rd example I have seen so far of SPARLING deviating from his own style, to show either he admired ADAMS & was influenced to do similiar,...or to show that he too could do powerful "photo-realist" looking work, as the then-popular new "Star" kid on the "DC" block"...SPARLING never did anything like this(changing his style) before...
This was when ADAMS was practically doing, at least a few covers for each editor, & mostly every cover for BRAVE & BOLD, BATMAN, DETECTIVE, Inking almost every SUPERMAN Family Title Covers,...& some artists may of gotten nervous & jealous, thinking they would lose out on work to a newbie...& to show they can do similiar looking work too...
Fact is, SPARLING did stop working for DC shortly thereafter. Especially when certain Editors retired, like Boltinoff, & others that would hire him...
